The Huntsville Youth Orchestra invites you to the Tennessee Valley Music Festival, June 1st through 7th at Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntsville. This day festival welcomes all levels of string students—children and adults—as well as intermediate and advanced woodwinds, brass, and percussion students with at least two years of experience. Throughout the week, students will work closely with professional musicians from across the country, refining their skills in string orchestra, full orchestra, wind ensemble, chamber music, and more. The Huntsville Community Chorus, with support from Redstone Federal Credit Union, presents the summer musical Once Upon a Mattress. This humorous retelling of the fairy tale The Princess and the Pea will be performed over two consecutive weekends: June 6–8 and 13–15. The public is invited to an Indie Lens Pop-up film screening of “Free for All: The Public Library” directed by Dawn Logsdon and Lucie Faulknor at the Downtown Huntsville Public Library on Saturday, June 7 at 1 p.m. Presented by the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library and Alabama Public Television, this film is a PBS documentary that traces the history of the Public Library, from early beginnings to today's librarians who serve the public.
